William Wambugu - Kenya

William Wambugu is a meticulous observer. In his earlier works he talked about objects, common things in life – chairs, containers, tools, clothes - that surround him, applying black ink on paper, cardboard and rice paper.

His latest artworks, currently presented in this exhibition are more sophistically elaborated, large scale paper works. He still uses black ink, however, mixed with dark coloured hues of ink and occasionally collages, creating delicate lines and a variability of geometric forms. Veterinary surgical instruments hyper-realistically drawn, dark black, "oating over large sharp white, glaring paper. Shades of $gures emerging out of the geometric background. His exceptional pen brings the viewer to notice incredible details of his objects. His works are delicate and simple and simultaneously have strength and originality.

William Wambugu was born in 1983 in Nairobi, trained at the Nairobi Art and Design School and developed his truly personal style
